Hairstyle Tips for the Cannes Film Festival

14.05.15

This year’s fabulous Cannes Film Festival is in full swing, so we’re back with another set of tips and tricks on how to have a great experience there. And that includes having the best of hairstyles. Are you ready for your first appointment in this magical place? Is your sexy outfit prepared, did you remember to fix your makeup and hair? If you’re not quite sure what hairstyle to choose for tonight, we have some useful suggestions for you. The three types we prepared for you require under 5 minutes of your time. And you’ll need some basic materials to make sure everything is in place. Throw a look below and have fun trying them out before your booking!

If your appointment takes place at night, you should try a ponytail that will make your hair look twice as long as it is in reality. All you need are two hairbands. This hairstyle is going to do wonders if all you want to do is dance the night away and have your hair stay out of your neck and face all the way through. But remember: this one’s best suited for ladies who have medium to long wavy hair. Start by letting your hair down, then use 2 ponytail holders. We recommend a tiny one and a standard one. Then gather the hair on top of your head. Add a bit of strands on either side from the hair that’s next to your ears. Make sure the hair on top is secured with the standard rubber band. When done, you have to continue by grabbing the rest of your hair. With it, create another ponytail. This one should be closer to the bottom of your head. The second ponytail has to be secured, too; use the tiny rubber band for this step. Next up, brush the hair of your first ponytail around. Make sure it covers the second ponytail. All done!

In case you want to wind down at the beach after a hard day’s work, you need a top-knot. Time needed to achieve this look: 10 seconds. Get some bobby pins and 1 hairtie. Take some dry shampoo and spray it on your hair. Fluff the hair a bit and brush it back with your fingers till you form a ponytail. Next step: make sure the sides are tugged out, then twist the hair half way down. Now twist it on your head about half way. This should help create a ballerina bun. Hold the half-bun with one of your hands. Grab a hold of the loose hair and make sure you spread it over the bun. Do this while using your palm to hold the hair in place. Then do this: pull the hairtie over the top, tug it tightly and twist and bring over the top of the bun again; let go as soon as you are halfway. Last step: tug the hair out of the bun if you need a bun of bigger dimensions. If you feel like it, pin pieces of hair that are loose by using one of the bobby pins. To be sure everything is in place, use your fingers to gently comb along your scalp. A bit of hairspray will secure everything even more.

If your multimillionaire client takes you for a ride in his luxurious car, you need a different hairstyle. Should you leave Cannes by plane or by train, this hairstyle will be equally perfect. First off, remove the hair from your face by twisting it away. Do the same for the hair that hangs on your back. Do these actions at the same time, then pin the hair with a bobby pin. The same action should be done for the hair on the other side. Pull everything back into a messy ponytail. Take the bobby pins out of each twist and grab a piece of hair from under the ponytail. Next, wrap it around the elastic a couple of times. Pin the end of the hair near the elastic and you’re all good to go!
