Tips on Dealing with Threats on Social Media

28.04.15

The Internet can be a great place for a female and male escort. There are so many ways to make yourself known to potential clients if you use the World Wide Web. You can, for example, build a beautiful personal website that’s the talk of town. Personalize it, add gorgeous photos, include a forum and you’re good to go. But these days, anybody who’s anybody in the escorting world has multiple accounts on social media. The most common are these: Facebook and Twitter. Twitter’s a bit more lax with nudity, which is a great plus. Facebook, not so much. There’s also Tumblr and Pinterest. Google+ is another good option to reach as many clients as you want.

Creating an account on the social media of your choice isn’t at all complicated to do. As soon as you’ve set it up, make sure you get followers. For starters, ask other escorts to land you a helping hand and be sure to post professional pics of yourself. Wear clothes that give access to your body’s best features and don't forget to smile. Done? Great, now give it some time and wait for commenters to come and give an opinion! An important thing is to be prepared for both positive and negative reactions. But what can one do if people start threatening you online? We have several answers for you.

Men and women who love abusing your profession are generally known as “trolls.” They can react in a multitude of different ways, one more dangerous than the other. Worst among these: violence and rape threats. Trolls can also say you provide illegal services and call you ugly names. One of the most important things to be aware of before any of this happens: prevention. How? By never giving out your real name, address, email and so on when using social media. Google is of great help: they let you make alerts so that you know when someone comments on your profile.

The next step is to address the issues you’re facing. Twitter has implemented a new policy that helps people who are abused online. What you need to do is report a threat to the Twitter team and they’ll handle the rest. If you’re dealing with violent people on your Facebook account, there are several ways to get rid of the problem. One of them: block the troll. Second option: hide his message from your news feed. Third method: report the message to the Facebook staff. You should never get into a debate with the person who’s just insulted you.

In case none of the above works, you can always involve the authorities. They can and will do more than Facebook and Twitter. In case you’re aware of the stalker’s identity, you must take civil action against him. For that, you need a solicitor. Another crucial method is to report cyber-stalking. Especially since the latter is a criminal offence in the eyes of the law. Before you do this, print the offensive messages; you should also take a screenshot of them. If the troll sent you abuse via phone, here’s what to do: note the phone number, date and time of said call.
