Who here hasn’t watched Pretty Woman, Belle de Jour and other movies whose main heroines are female escorts? These films have become iconic throughout the years, but the truth is, real-life companions are nothing like the fictional characters shown on the silver screen. We’re not saying it is all make-belief 100% of the time, but it’s close. There are a lot of misconceptions surrounding the ladies working in this industry. We came across 12 and we’re taking them one by one, starting today with part 1! Next week we’ll return with part 2. Let’s begin with 6 of the 12 myths that surround an escort, as seen in movies.

Dear escorts, not every client you’ll meet is attractive and sexy. You’ll deal with a lot of different body types when you become an escort. Some of them will be overweight and others will look really bland. Their bodies can be covered in a lot of scars or they may have a disability. There are clients who will treat you like an object or become violent with you. Keep some mace close by at all times so you can defend yourself when this happens; or take some self-defense classes, they’re always a great idea. Keep your expectations low and you won’t be disappointed. As soon as you reach a certain level in your profession, though, you’ll be able to pick the sort of clients that appeal to you looks-wise.

Not all escorts become friends with one another, even if the movie Sweet Charity tells you otherwise. There are exceptions, of course, but not that many. You won’t see them with pom-poms cheering one another from the sidelines. Each of the girls sticks to her business and that’s that. They don’t even meet with one another in their free time; they can do it online, though, but that’s about it. Not to mention, many escorts are really competitive. Also, they prefer to keep to themselves because of the stigma that surrounds their profession.

Another myth about escorts is that they’re all dumb. That’s not true, at all. Every professional female companion you’ll meet as a client is intelligent and they’re a pleasure to have a conversation with. Men are all for hot bodies and pretty faces, but at some one point or another, they’ll get tired and want some brains, too. Communication is key if you want your client to feel like a king; great communication is even better. A smart and sexy escort will leave her print in the industry and maintain a successful business.
