How to Shake-Off Emotion Overcharge

If your line of work requires you to have close contact with different types of people, like escorting does, then by the end of the day you may feel a heavy emotional load, that you must shake off to maintain your body healthy and your mind grounded.

Here are a few ways of shaking off all emotions, good or bad, that you’ve accumulated throughout the day, emotions that if not released from your body and mind, will interfere with the quality of your sleep, your peace of mind and your ability to perform your escorting activity in the days to come.

Shake Your Body to Shake Your Stress Away

Here is a quick way to reset your nervous system after an exhausting encounter or at the end of a busy day: stand up with your feet apart, then start by shaking your hands, move to shake your arms, let your shoulders bounce and end the exercise with your entire body shaking for half a minute.

By doing these shaking movements that start from your hands and expand to your entire body, you discharge your stress hormones, and you give a reset to your system.

Practice the Dragon Breath

Reclaim your personal space with a fun exercise that relays on your imagination. Think of yourself as being a dragon that tries to melt a candle with its fiery breath.

Now inhale deeply and exhale while imagining your breath melting the candle. Repeat five times.

The Two-Minute Emotional Dump

End the day with you unloading your accumulated emotions and frustration. Set the timer for two minutes, and during this time you write down on a piece of paper everything that you’re feeling. When the time ends you stop and rip the paper into tiny pieces and then toss it away.

Knowing that at the end of the day you will have a special time dedicated to venting your frustrations, you will be able to carry on with your day in a more positive manner. By doing this daily emotional dump exercise you clear mental clutter and avoid emotional buildup.

The Cold-Warm Body Reset

An easy way to ground yourself and step away from overwhelming emotions is to use the temperature contrast to calm down your nervous system.

Put your hands in cold water for a minute or two, rinse your face, and then wrap yourself in something warm and soft. This variation in temperature will help you regulate your emotions.

The Micro-Cleaning Routine

Give your brain a little control by ending the day with a micro-cleaning routine. That doesn’t mean you should start cleaning like crazy, every night. Instead, what you need to do is set yourself micro-tasks such as cleaning the kitchen counter, folding a few clothes or putting away a few items that are lying around.

By focusing on mini manual tasks, you offer your brain some well-deserved time off and a sense of closure at the end of an exhausting day.

Do not carry your emotions into the next day. Release them with some help from the techniques we’ve presented above and allow your mind to dump all the negative emotions and your body to relax, before going to bed.
