Myths of the Escorting World

09.05.14

Hollywood loves the companion lifestyle, but it also loves to create myths about it, just like everything else. So, if you were thinking that you learned all there is to know about escorting from movies and TV, well we’ve come to crack the myths and tell you what this industry is really about!

Myth #1: Escorts belong to the crime world. We’re all used to the image of mobster pimps, who are mostly involved with drugs and only deal in escorting as an add-on to that side of the business. We’ll often find ourselves tangled in murders in these shows or at least some other form of violent behaviour. While it’s true that some escorts will find themselves in shady, violent situations, this doesn’t stand for most the girls in the trade. Shockingly (we know), companions lead lives similar to most other people: they walk their dogs in the morning, they go to the grocery store, sometimes the gym. Very few are involved in illegal activities or have powerful clients.

Myth #2: Escorts never find happiness. In movies, most companions end up dead or unhappy, as if it is impossible for their characters to achieve some sort of happy ending. But sadness does not prevail in the escorting world, quite the contrary. As we’ve showed in previous articles, escorting is a very profitable business, which can allow you to retire in just a couple of years (if you know how to manage your earnings), Financial freedom is crucial for a successful life, and escorts are closer to that than most people. But, we’re guessing Hollywood found no drama in that fact.

Myth #3: Whatever the reason, sexual satisfaction is never why an escort enters the trade. While it’s true that many people become companions for financial reasons, there are still many out there who joined the business thanks to a high libido or in search of satisfying their own sexual desires. Shockingly (again), many escorts enjoy having sex!

Myth #4: Escorts can expect to find Prince Charming through their work. While escort-client romance has been known to happen on occasion, most customers are married and unwilling to leave their spouses. Even if they’re not romantically committed, by booking an escort they’re signalling the fact that they’re looking to avoid emotional tangles and just have a little fun with an attractive woman, who isn’t afraid to get frisky in the sheets.

The real image of the escorting world, however, isn’t as romantic as the one created by Hollywood, so don’t expect to see much of reality on TV. What other myths do you think movies have propagated about escorts?
